Is there a way to add more species, when categorizing, or when would more species be added? I saw a some ducks, but no ducks were in the species list. I had to put other birds. I’m not sure where else to post this request.

Hi Dave – thank you for the great question! Our project is primarily focused on mammals, so we keep most birds under the hat of “Other bird” with the exception of Sandhill and Whooping Crane, Grouse, Pheasant and Turkey. We do commonly have volunteers share bird photos on the Zooniverse Talk boards for identification from the avid Snapshot birders (you can do this by clicking “Done & Talk” after making a classification). The Snapshot project will update the species list if ever there is a push for data about other birds, for now the Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas provides a plethora of ornithological data for the WDNR. You are welcome to share questions on the project Talk boards, or direct them to our email address at DNRSnapshotWisconsin@wisconsin.gov.
